Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Asad Majeed Khan has said that troops might be deployed from the Afghanistan border to the Kashmir frontier.
He said, India’s crackdown on occupied Kashmir could get worse and complicate the Kashmir issue and the peace process.
He said, Pakistan is doing all it can to resolve the issue and that the scrapping of the status of Kashmir could not have come at a worse time.
He said, Pakistan has been supporting a long and painstaking U.S.-led reconciliation effort in Afghanistan and hoped the U.S. talks with the Taliban would succeed.
He said, if the situation escalates on the eastern border, we will have to redeploy troops, adding, there has been little communication between the two countries.
He said India’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status scraping Article 370 is a slap in the face of a renewed American commitment to solve the Kashmir dispute.
He said, the Indian-held Kashmir has been waiting for 72 years to exercise its right to self-determination.
