chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar

Supreme Court directed the Sindh Chief Secretary and other secretaries of finance, health and service departments to appear in court for the case pertaining to the deaths of children due to malnutrition in Tharparkar.

A bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, directed the top official to present themselves before the 11th of October, 2018.

Saqib Nisar also said he would visit Tharparkar himself to witness and examine the conditions in Sindh. Member National Assembly, Kumar Vankwani stated that there was no need to develop health centers at the level of villages in Tharparkar. He said that every kind of drug is available in Thar, further adding, the health department could not address the situation as the participation of other departments in relief efforts would be necessary.

The chief justice of Pakistan asked the Attorney General of Pakistan what else could they do. The chief federal law officer responded, hospitals are established in Tharparkar but doctors are not available, even though all kinds of machinery is available in working condition, there is no one suitable to run them.

Hence, he suggested that the session and district judge of Mithi should present the current situation to the court.
