The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Wednesday adopted a resolution against violence and acts of terrorism targeting individuals in the name of religion or belief.
The resolution was presented by Turkey and co-sponsored by countries including Pakistan.
Promoting freedom of religion, belief and domestic environment of religious tolerance was urged in the resolution.
The U.N. New Zealand representative welcomed the focus of the text on international efforts for a global dialogue to foster diversity and peace, adding, New Zealand is grateful to the global Muslim community who stood with them during the dark days.
