The leading candidate to become Britain’s next Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Monday he would not back the United States military action against Iran.
Speaking at the final leadership debate, Johnson said he would not support strikes against Iran if he becomes prime minister.
Johnson is widely expected to defeat rival and Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt in the race to become the next Conservative party Prime Minister.
The former London mayor described the regime in Tehran as disruptive and difficult administration but stressed that military action would not be a sensible option.
His reputation for political duplicity suggests he could change his tune once in office.
