The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, has said that given the current regional developments UAE airlines will avoid operating through Iranian airspace over the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
Emirates and Etihad announced that they are suspending their operations through the Iranian airspace as a precautionary measure.
The civil aviation has taken precautionary measures including rerouting flights from areas of possible conflict.
The civil aviation authority said, they are carefully monitoring the ongoing developments and are in close contact with the relevant government authorities.
The GCAA said, flight paths have been affected by recent airspace restrictions in the region and the aviation authority will make further operational changes if the need arises.
