A U.S. military helicopter was destroyed during a hard landing in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Passengers and crew on the chopper were injured.
U.S. Forces Afghanistan spokesman Colonel David Butler said, a CH-47 Chinook helicopter “hit the ground hard on the way to drop passengers off” during a mission in Helmand.
Butler said the helicopter had been totally destroyed during the landing and Afghan and the U.S. personnel were injured.
He said, they are stable and expected to recover.
He said, no hostile fire or enemy were involved, adding, Chinooks, are easily recognisable workhorse aircrafts and are used to ferry troops and supplies across the country.
