The United States Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats predicted Taliban attacks calling Pakistan recalcitrance in dealing with militant groups.
He said, Pakistan will continue to take advantage of their safe haven to plan and conduct attacks in neighbouring countries and beyond.
He presented threat assessment report before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
He said the United States will face significant global threats in 2019.
The report said, Pakistan use militant and other groups as policy tools which directly threaten the U.S. interests.
Daniel Coats said, along with dealing with the militant groups in Pakistan, those other groups also need to be confronted and dealt with.
He said, Pakistan’s approach to counter-terrorism will frustrate U.S. counter-terrorism efforts.
He also mentioned Pakistan’s nuclear programme and expressed concern about Pakistan’s continued development control of nuclear weapons.
He said relations between India and Pakistan will get strained by May 2019.
