Two American teenagers have been jailed in Rome for their alleged role in the murder of an Italian policeman.
Investigators said they confessed to killing Vice Brig. Mario Cerciello Rega, a member of the Carabinieri paramilitary corps.
The 35-year-old cop was stabbed eight times by one of the accused.
They left him bleeding on a street.
The accused were identified as Gabriel Christian Natale-Hjorth, 18, and Finnegan Lee Elder, 19.
Police said they were apparently vacationing in the Italian capital.
The court ruled that the American teens will stay in jail while the investigation goes forward.
