A modern history text book for Turkish public school students appears to justify the Sept. 11 attacks in the U.S. by Al-Qaeda.
The text-book covers religious and ethnic extremist movements and also speeches by Turkey’s president Recept Tayyip Erdogan.
The book is for twelfth-grade students: “The U.S. in the aftermath of the Cold War complies less with international agreements and has started to see itself as one above equals in international relations. These practices by the U.S. are one of the reasons behind the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization’s attack on 9/11.”
Critics of the text book say school children in Turkey are being force-fed the religious rhetoric.
