Syria, Iran sign economy, infrastructure, education agreements

The war has taken an enormous toll on the Syrian economy and infrastructure.

Syria and Iran signed 11 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding on Monday.

Iran’s Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri visited Damascus and signed the agreements.

The Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis said the agreements were message to the world of co-operation between the two countries.

The agreements covered a range of fields including economy, infrastructure, education, culture, investment and housing.

The civil war in Syria has torn the country apart with the UN estimating $400 billion loss, more than 360,000 killed and several million people displaced.
