Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that the Afghan refugees registered in Pakistan can open bank accounts.
The prime minister said it on Twitter.
He said, they can part of the formal economy in Pakistan.
He said, this should have been done a long time ago.
Afghan refugees started coming to Pakistan in early 80s because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
The influx of refugees has not stopped.
Attacks on Twin Towers on Sep.11, 2001, started another war in Afghanistan.
The United States military strikes in the past years sent a majority of Afghans to Pakistan.
