The United States Central Command General Joseph Votel has said Pakistan has not taken action against the militant organizations inside the country.
According to a British website, General Joseph speaking at the session of House Armed Services Committee of the U.S. Senate Committee for Defence Affairs, said, Pakistan took positive steps for holding negotiations between the U.S. Special Representative for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad and the Afghan Taliban.
He said, Pakistan co-operated in the past six months to the extent it did not co-operate in the 18 years of war.
He said, peace in the region is in the mutual interest of the United States and Pakistan.
He said, if Pakistan plays a positive role in the Afghan war, the United States will also help Pakistan.
General Joseph said, despite the efforts for reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan the political environment could not be developed in Afghanistan that could pave way for exit of the U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
