Monk who sows hatred

Yogi Adityanath has several criminal cases against him.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, head priest of the Goraknath math, has bizarre priorities as the monk sows hatred with serious cases of riots against him.

He has a history of mauling Muslims in his speeches and parallels are being made between him and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who planned the 2002 riots in Gujarat.

As chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, he changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj, he also set up squads to attack inter-faith couples. Adityanath has several criminal cases against him, including rioting, attempt to murder, trespassing on burial places and criminal intimidation.

Yogi abhors feminism and women’s freedom and warns in one of his essays when women acquire men-like qualities they become “rakshas” (evil)”.

He was arrested for inciting the Gorakhpur rioters in 2007.
