Iran summons British ambassador to Tehran

British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt warned there would be “unintended but catastrophic” consequences if Iran was proven to be behind attacks.

Iran summoned the British ambassador to Tehran after the UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said Iran was responsible for the June 13 attack on the oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman.

Iran strongly condemned the allegations and criticised Britain’s unacceptable stance.

The attack set ablaze one oil tanker.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Friday that the US was using all opportunities for radicalising the situation.

He said the United States is undermining the stability not only in the region but in the whole world.

Tehran has denied involvement in the incident.

The U.S. has blamed Iran for setting the oil tankers ablaze and the U.S. and the Arab League called on Iran to be careful because it is pushing the Gulf countries towards a confrontation.
