Afghanistan has recalled its ambassador from Pakistan.
Reportedly, the Afghan government recalled the ambassador over the remarks by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan it deemed as an obvious example of Pakistan’s interventional policy in Afghanistan.
Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan suggested Kabul should set up an interim government that would smooth peace talks between U.S. and the Afghan Taliban.
He said, the militant group refuses to speak to the current Afghan government and it was a hurdle in the peace process.
The Afghanistan-Pakistan row third time in just over a month demonstrates the flaring tensions between the two neighbours at a sensitive time.
U.S. Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad weighed in on Kabul’s side, saying on Twitter “The future of Afghanistan is for Afghans, and only Afghans, to decide.”
