The Foreign Office handed over a list of 261 Indian prisoners to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Monday.
This step is consistent with the provisions of the Consular Access Agreement between Pakistan and India.
Both countries are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year.
The Indian government is also set to share the list of Pakistani prisoners.
The 261 prisoners in Pakistani jails include 52 civilians and 209 fishermen.
