Exemplary punishment for the responsible cops of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab police, who killed four persons near Sahiwal, has been demanded.
Protesters took out rallies in Lahore, Sahiwal and other cities demanding swift action against the CTD cops and exemplary punishment for them.
The deceased were identified as grocery owner Mohammed Khalil, his wife Nabeela, daughter Areeba and Khalil’s friend.
The initial investigation reveals the law enforcement agency twisted the facts accusing them of terrorism after killing them in broad daylight.
Prime Minister Imran Khan said in his Tweet any parent would be shocked as they would think of their own children in such a traumatic situation, adding, the children of the people killed by the CTD cops will be looked after by the state as its responsibility.
He said, the government’s responsibility is to protect its citizens. As soon as the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report comes, action will be taken against the personnel involved in the horrific incident, he added.
According to the postmortem report, driver Zeeshan received 10 bullets; father Khalil 13; mother Nabeela Bibi 4 and 13-year-old Areeba was shot four times.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar met the family and promised that justice would be served.
The CTD officers involved in the killing have been arrested and booked under the terrorism charges.
The family was on the way to attend a wedding ceremony in Burewala, when the incident took place.
