Dubai Police arrested 16 people and seized 365 kilogram of drugs‑‑heroin, hashish and crystal meth.
Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri said at a press briefing narcotics were worth Dh280 million.
He said, the drugs were hidden inside the spare parts of a vehicle and it is the largest heroin seizure in the United Arab Emirates.
Dubai Police Criminal Investigation Affairs Assistant Commander-in-Chief Major-General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri said, teams collected information from different areas in the UAE and exchanged information with many other countries.
He said, international drug gangs of 16 Asian suspects were arrested in collaboration with Ajman, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain police.
He said, their attempt to spread drugs in UAE was foiled.
The drug haul included 268kg of heroin, 96kg of crystal meth and 1kg of hashish.
Dubai Police received information about an international drug gang and kept monitoring the suspects.
Dubai Police Anti-Narcotic Department Deputy Director Colonel Khalid Bin Moyazeh said, the drugs would have had a negative impact on society if they had found their way on the market.
The suspects were posing as cleaners and maintenance workers and targeting youngsters in the UAE.
