As Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi visited the occupied Kashmir, Kashmiris held protest demonstrations and brought all commercial activities to a halt.
The Indian prime minister visited Srinagar, Ladakh and Jammu to lay foundation stones for developmental projects.
A complete shutdown was observed in occupied Kashmir on the call of the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL).
Internet and mobile services were shut.
Troops deployment was increased in Srinagar, Ladakh, Jammu and other areas and a curfew was imposed in Indian held Kashmir.
The JRL leadership Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, and Muhammad Yasin Malik said Modi was seeking to crush the freedom movement of Kashmiris and their right to self-determination.
They said Modi ordered killings, arrests, and destruction of properties in the occupied Kashmir.
They said Indian troops have committed unspeakable atrocities and human rights violations in the occupied territories and continuing with repressive measures and killings of the civilians.
