Australia’s longest serving PM Bob Hawke dies at 89

Australia’s longest serving Prime Minister Bob Hawke died on Thursday at age 89.

He served from 1983 to 1991 as prime minister.

His party Labor leader Bill Shorten said, Australians everywhere remember and honour him for giving so much to the country.

Hawke was born in South Australia but moved to Western Australia as a child.

He attended the University of Western Australia and then Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.
