ISLAMABAD: The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has issued an audit report in which financial irregularities worth Rs 23.70 billion have been revealed in 17 departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in year 2017-18, Dunya News reported on Monday.
Unavailability of record by provincial departments, purchase of cars, unnecessary expenditures, overpayments and misuse of authority and incentives have been termed as the reasons behind the irregularities.
According to the audit report, Energy and Power Department committed irregularities worth Rs 5.80 billion – the most by any body – followed by Education Department [Rs 4.12 billion] and Department of Minerals Development [Rs 4.09 billion].
Furthermore, Food, Health and Environment Departments have been reported of committing irregularities worth Rs 1.71 billion, Rs 56.20 crore and Rs 22.50 crore. The report has recommended taking strict action against the authorities involved in infringements.
